Toronto Waterfront Festival Cancelled

Due to a lack of grant funding and competition with FIFA World Cup events in Toronto, the Toronto Waterfront Festival has been postponed until 2027.

In a press release, organizers said a “perfect storm of circumstances led to this difficult decision” to cancel the September festival.

For the first time in the festival’s 16-year history, it received no grant funding from any level of government. Organizers said amid FIFA, competition for corporate sponsorships is fierce. Both factors caused a “challenging funding position for 2026” and led to this year’s cancellation.
